Rediscovering Life after Retirement

Categories: My Little Miracles

Thankful Thursday 06.2021

Sweet potatoes, it’s time for Thankful Thursday 06.2021. I am horrified to discover that it has been 4 months since my last Thankful Thursday post. How sad is that? It has been penciled in on my agenda every month. And I write in my gratitude journal every single night (almost). So what is my problem? It isn’t that I am not thankful every Thursday and the other 6 days of the week, for that matter. But I just haven’t made the effort to share my blessings and gratitude here with you.

Thankful Thursday 06.2021

Again today, I am linking up with Rebecca Jo for her Thankful Thursday series, which she publishes every week. These posts - when I finally write one - give me a opportunity to reflect back over all the little blessings in my life. Most of those ‘gratefuls’ come straight from the things I have listed each night in my gratitude journal.

This post is going to be a highlight reel of some of the things I’ve been most thankful for since my last post, here.

Final Thoughts

Looking back over the last few months (and my life as a whole), I have so much to be thankful for. Monday-Sunday, 24/7/365. Not just on random Thursdays when I put a Thankful Thursday post together. I applaud Rebecca Jo for sharing her gratefuls weekly. And I need to do better!!

We had many health-related blessings - Cami was hospitalized but released the next day, she endured a lip-tie and tongue-tie procedure. Mom fell several times but was never badly hurt, PC had an epidural that seems to have helped his back, Lauren had a heart procedure, and my sister and I had biopsies that were benign. Brennyn is having a healthy baby boy.

There was beauty in our world. And rain that brought a different beauty to the desert. Time spent with loved ones. Laughs, fun adventures, downtime to recharge.

As I have shared recently, I sometimes feel upside down or like life is a somersault. But we always seem to land right side up, on our feet. Thank God.

Your Turn

My hope is that in sharing this list of thankfuls in my life, it will make me recognize that the good, the grace always outweighs the bad, the trouble in my life. And I hope reading over my blessings, you will reflect (again) on your own.

Wishing you a happy, healthy July. Hard to believe 2021 is more than half behind us. May the remainder of the year be chockful of blessings for everyone. Thank you for spending a few moments here with me!

Hugs and kisses,

leslie

This is such a positive way to look at life, instead of how easy it is to look at all of the disappointments. We just found out some bad news about my SIL yesterday and I need to try to think of some positives things to get my mind off it!! I didn’t know you had a convertible, so fun I bet in the summer!

So sorry about your SIL. Maybe you can break out your gratitude journal in her honor and use this bad news to look for positives.

SO many wonderful things to be thankful for these past few months! Congrats on becoming a grandmother again! This is the first grandson isn’t it?! How exciting. Glad to hear that your mom seems to be doing well too and that so many medical procedures and tests for the whole family were so positive!

I enjoy reading other people’s gratitude lists because they definitely help me realize how much I also have to be thankful for! I do daily gratitude as well, but don’t usually create full lists like you have. I think this full list can help you see how really wonderful your life is. I need to go back over my daily ones and create a summary!

Thank you!! We have had our share of health concerns but have been blessed with great medical professionals working to get to the bottom of things. I always thank God for the medical tests, technology and devices that we have to identify and monitor health issues.

10.18.2021 Book review Lucia and I so enjoyed rea 10.18.2021 Book review
Lucia and I so enjoyed reading "The Cat with the Crooked Tail" by Once Upon a Dance, illustrated by OlhaTkachenko. It is one of the "Dance it Out" movement stories.
We cheered Merida, a farm cat with a crooked tail, as she grows from runt to acrobatic superstar conquering the giant kitty obstacle course in the barn. And encouraging other barn cats who are slightly different to do the same.
The picture book features lovely colored pencil illustrations, a large font and easy-to-read text. Vignette photos of a young dancer illustrate Merida's balletic movements as she gains confidence in her own abilities. Young readers are invited to try the movements themselves. Lucia enjoyed pretending to be one of the kitties frolicking with Merida. I enjoyed reading to my baby.
